Save the Children has worked in Myanmar since 1995, and started the Dawn Microfinance Program in 2002. Over the following 13 years, Dawn evolved to become a successful microfinance program lending to women-owned businesses.
In March 2015, the program was transformed into a regulated deposit-taking microfinance company and capitalized by Accion, FMO, and Triodos.
The MetLife Foundation was created in 1976 to continue MetLife’s longstanding tradition of corporate contributions and community involvement.

In May 2015, the Metlife Foundation awarded Accion a $250,000 grant to support DAWN.
